Continuous Improvement
”K”ARE Project is our strategic plan to improve service quality through safety and organisational culture maturity.
Several employees were engaged earlier in this project both ship and shore to learn and contribute to prepare our organization for the mid-term goals, for future fleet expansion and to implement our values.
In “K”ARE we use what we call safety leadership to implement our zero major accident vision. This is different from safety management which is mostly focused on doing things right and by the book. Major accidents are reduced by certain behaviours in a team that deals with collaboration to spot human error and immediate action if seen.
“After kick-off of the “K”ARE project you can feel people are more interested in their day to day work, knowing that reassessing work continuously makes the job safer.”
Henrik Herlitz
Captain
“I truly believe when we work as a team towards one common goal, something remarkable will happen and we will achieve an environment with absolute trust and care for each other.”
Soeun Choi
“K”ARE Project Manager
“K”ARE project is a large undertaking and encompass amongst others; full day workshops both onshore and onboard vessels with extensive exercises and analysis of both real and fictious cases, an app with training exercises, “homework” assignments for employees and continuous focus and follow-ups through internal communication channels.
Feedback from staff throughout the organization, both onboard and on shore has been very positive and we are dedicated to continue the work that has already been done to ensure that we truly can say that we do everything we can to avoid incidents or accidents and protect our people, our cargo and the environment.
“We can now clearly see ourselves in somebody’s shoes and understand the way they feel and react in different situations. A life changing chapter of our career that we will always be grateful.”
John Eric Oaing
